Designed as a place of restoration and connection, The Sanctuary is a purpose-built retreat located in Halfmoon Bay on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast. The 20′ × 32′ building features a dramatic single-slope roof, soaring ceilings approaching 20 feet in height, and expansive glazing that fills the interior with natural light while framing views of the surrounding forest.

At the heart of the design is a large open studio intended for meditation, mindfulness practices, small group gatherings, and personal reflection. Support spaces, including a washroom, storage area, and wet bar, are tucked beneath a 12′ × 20′ loft, preserving the openness of the main floor while providing practical amenities. The loft above offers a quiet retreat for reading, contemplation, or informal conversation.

Wrapped in warm wood cladding and connected to nature through generous outdoor decks, The Sanctuary is designed as a place to slow down, recharge, and reconnect—with oneself, with others, and with the surrounding landscape.
