The Puget Sound Cabin is a Step Code 3 home designed as a vacation home for an elderly couple. The idea was simple; a central form with forms growing out of it, creating different visuals from each space, and a unique aesthetic at the intersection of the ceiling. The roof and cladding are both corrugated metal, because of its durability and sleek look. The roof has a hidden gutter beyond the structural intersection above the insulation for building envelope protection and the elegant look of the wall/roof intersection. Large overhangs are provided at all openings to reduce solar heat gains, limit water exposure and create a seamless transition from the inside to the outside.
